What the Black Spot on My Roses Taught Me About Life

“A Lesson I Learned from Black Spot on Roses"

For 2 years I fought black spot in my beautiful knock out rose bushes. I picked leaves, sprayed them with neem oil, even cut them down nearly to the ground. It would seem that they were cured when poof that ugly yellow, then brown leaf would reappear, & black spots would develop. Then I was back to the drawing board. It wasn't until I stopped googling & went to a professional & bought a spray bottle of fungicide designed for this plant disease. After spraying it the diseased leaves began falling off. However, I have found that when the leaves are exposed to the fungus again I have to spray them when it begins rather than let it get out of control.

Isn't our walk with God like that? My experience with the "black spot" disease on my roses was a powerful reminder of how we need God's grace in our spiritual lives. Just like those stubborn spots, sin can creep back into our hearts if we rely solely on our strength. But when we turn to Christ, the ultimate "fungicide," we find true healing and restoration. When we realize that we are starting to slip by having ungodly thoughts we need to "nip it in the bud" immediately so that those sinful thoughts don't lead to sinful action & take over our life.

Allow Jesus to keep us pruned & treated by His word so we can grow into the beautiful vessel He created us to be.

Tea with Me

Have you ever noticed how a tiny problem, left alone, can quietly spread until it affects everything around it? That's exactly what happened to my Knock Out roses. After battling a stubborn fungus for two years, God used a simple lesson from my garden to remind me how important it is to deal with the "little things" in our hearts before they take root. I'd love for you to go to this link & see the story animated. https://alessonfromroses.angelabradyshomes.com

I think you'll find that sometimes the greatest life lessons bloom right outside our back door.
